3 Kingdoms Online Remastered Legendary Campaigns
How to approach Hulao Pass, Guandu, Changban Bridge, and Red Cliffs.
Why campaigns matter
3 Kingdoms Online Remastered (Chinese title 三國鼎立Online Remastered, Steam AppID 4770830) is a free-to-play turn-based tactical MMO published by Chinesegamer. It released on Steam on 11 August 2026, supports online multiplayer and co-op style rooms, and ships with Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese UI only—there is no English in-game interface. Signature systems include 15v15 multiplayer boards, ten unit types, 27 terrains, remastered officer portraits, AI auto-battle, nation war city sieges, and legendary campaigns such as Hulao Pass, Guandu, Changban Bridge, and Red Cliffs.
Legendary campaigns are the remaster’s story-rich instances. They teach choke etiquette before Nation War, drop progression resources, and can include player-versus-player contest modes inside the same historical framing. Start from How to Play if turn structure is still fuzzy.
Shared preparation for every stage
Claim gifts on Launch Rewards, recruit Inoti, and lock a starter list from Beginner Builds. Bring at least one medic (藥師), one solid front-liner, and a plan for engineers (工兵) whenever objectives involve fortified ground. Master the ten foundation unit types: infantry (步兵), cavalry (騎兵), archers (弓兵), light infantry (輕裝兵), strategists (謀士), medics (藥師), engineers (工兵), taoists (道士), songstresses (歌妓), and barbarians (蠻兵). Each role answers a different map problem—front-line holding, flank strikes, ranged pressure, mobility, disruption, healing, fortification, mystical control, buff/debuff performance, or raw shock damage.
Review tiles with Terrain because campaign designers love historical bottlenecks. Keep the Unit Counter Tool open if the stage mixes NPC waves with opposing players.
Hulao Pass (虎牢關)
Hulao is the classic gateway fight: narrow approaches, brutal frontal clashes, and punishment for teams that cannot heal through repeated charges. Prioritize infantry (步兵) and barbarians (蠻兵) on the mouth of the pass, park archers (弓兵) on elevated or rear tiles, and keep Hua Tuo or another medic off the primary charge lane. Cavalry (騎兵) should wait for a flank rather than suiciding into spears. If auto-battle walks your healer forward, disable it—see Auto-Battle.
Guandu (官渡)
Guandu rewards operational patience: supply-style objectives, layered defenses, and fights that punish greedy overextensions. Strategists (謀士) and taoists (道士) gain value when skills contest clustered defenders. Light infantry (輕裝兵) can raid soft targets if the enemy parks songstresses (歌妓) too aggressively. Expect longer sessions than Hulao; manage internal timers afterward via Internal Affairs.
Changban Bridge (長坂橋)
Changban set pieces emphasize bridge control, delaying actions, and dramatic holds against superior numbers. A smaller elite squad with perfect terrain use can stall. Put durable units on the bridge tiles, keep ranged units angled so they do not block retreats, and save burst skills for the turn enemies step onto disadvantageous ground. This stage is excellent rehearsal for gate holds in Nation War.
Red Cliffs (赤壁)
Red Cliffs fantasy brings fire, water-adjacent thinking, and wide tactical chaos. Mobility units and carefully timed AoE matter. Do not assume a pure cavalry smash works if terrain softens mounts. Engineers and strategists often decide whether a “fire plan” is real or cosplay. Bring flexible Faction Comps and be ready to retune mid-run.
Party versus contested runs
Co-op minded groups can focus NPC patterns and teach new English-speaking friends the Chinese UI icons. Contested runs add human unpredictability—swap to PvP Builds logic, protect healers harder, and communicate lane numbers.
Farming etiquette
Once you can clear manually, limited auto-battle farming is fine. Stop automating the moment win rates collapse or the AI wastes rare items. Reinvest loot into officers that match your war role, not only campaign favors.
Suggested clear order for new accounts
Tutorial → Hulao learning clears → Guandu with a medic core → Changban hold practice → Red Cliffs flex comps. Parallel-read Getting Started if you still lack launch gear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about units, gifts, campaigns, and nation war.
Which campaign should I try first?
Hulao Pass is the natural early gateway fight after onboarding and gift claims.
Can I fight other players inside campaigns?
Yes—some campaign flows allow contesting against opposing players as well as NPC clears.
Do terrains matter in PvE campaigns?
Absolutely. The same 27 terrains reshape movement and combat; bridges and gates are intentional design.
Is auto-battle okay for campaigns?
After you understand the script. Turn it off for new stages or contested player fights.
