Faction identity in the remaster

3 Kingdoms Online Remastered (Chinese title 三國鼎立Online Remastered, Steam AppID 4770830) is a free-to-play turn-based tactical MMO by Chinesegamer, released on Steam on 11 August 2026. It is online multiplayer, Steam-only, with Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese UI only (no English interface). Expect 15v15 boards, ten unit types, 27 terrains, remastered portraits, AI auto-battle, nation war, and campaigns such as Hulao Pass, Guandu, Changban Bridge, and Red Cliffs.

The officer encyclopedia groups portraits across factions such as Wei, Shu, Wu, and additional tabs (including collaboration and other series). Collection rewards encourage filling those tabs, but combat comps should still obey unit counters and terrain. Start from Factions for roster structure, then return here for team shapes.

Universal laws before cosplay

The ten unit types are infantry (步兵), cavalry (騎兵), archers (弓兵), light infantry (輕裝兵), strategists (謀士), medics (藥師), engineers (工兵), taoists (道士), songstresses (歌妓), and barbarians (蠻兵). Every faction still needs sustain, a front line, and an answer to cavalry dives. Beginner Builds remain the scaffold. Free officers like Inoti and healers like Hua Tuo from Launch Rewards can splash into any identity.

Wei-leaning shapes

Wei fantasy often plays disciplined lines: infantry (步兵) walls, strategist (謀士) timing, and archers (弓兵) behind shields. Great for gate defense modules inside Nation War. Weakness appears when enemies flood light infantry (輕裝兵) around slow cores—keep a mobile peel unit.

Shu-leaning shapes

Shu-flavored lists frequently celebrate aggressive tempo—cavalry (騎兵), barbarians (蠻兵), and bold engages. They shine on wider tiles and struggle on bridge maps if you ignore Terrain. Pair aggression with a stubborn medic (藥師) or you will outrun your heal radius.

Wu-leaning shapes

Wu comps enjoy flexible pressure, river/cliff style stages, and trickier skill lines with taoists (道士) or songstresses (歌妓). Red Cliffs practice on Campaigns is excellent homework. Bring engineers (工兵) whenever objectives are more than raw kills.

Mixed and collaboration comps

Most Steam launch accounts are mixed. That is fine. Build for roles first, faction color second. Encyclopedia completion can lag behind your war twelve. Use Faction tabs to plan collection routes without dismantling a winning mixed team.

Sample six-role war package

  1. Infantry anchor
  2. Shock (cavalry or barbarian)
  3. Medic
  4. Ranged chip
  5. Utility (engineer or strategist)
  6. Flex (Inoti / light infantry / taoist)

Expand toward 15v15 by doubling anchors and adding a second utility rather than six redundant DPS portraits.

Synergy checklist

Compare your package against the Unit Counter Tool. Validate tiles with Terrain Reference. Fund upgrades via Internal Affairs. Manual-test on How to Play fundamentals before trusting Auto-Battle. When humans adapt, pivot using PvP Builds.

Collection versus combat budget

Remastered portraits and encyclopedia scores are real progression hooks. Schedule cheap collection claims after war prep, not instead of it. If a patch adds new series officers, read Launch Notes before rebuilding your entire identity overnight.

Wear your faction colors proudly—but win with counters, chokes, and healers.

Practical roster math for Steam launch accounts

Most players will own a scatter of Wei, Shu, Wu, and collaboration officers before they own a complete historical set. Count roles first: anchors, sustain, primary damage, secondary damage, objective utility, peel. If any role is missing, splash Inoti or a gifted healer regardless of tab color. Only after the role grid is full should you chase monochrome screenshots for the encyclopedia.

Event-driven identity swaps

When merit battles or unit-king style events favor a type, temporarily overweight that type inside your faction shell. Revert after the event so your nation-war twelve does not become a museum of outdated event carries. Read Launch Notes whenever a new series lands, then re-run the Unit Counter Tool against the popular human opens you actually see in rooms.

Alliance drafting etiquette

If your faction lead asks for a themed wing, clarify whether they mean cosmetic theme or mechanical theme. A cosmetic Wei wing that still fields engineers and medics is fine. A cosmetic wing that bans medics for lore reasons will lose gates. Share this page in chat when debates get dramatic.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about units, gifts, campaigns, and nation war.

Must my whole team be one faction?

No. Faction flavor is optional; role coverage and terrain fit come first.

Do encyclopedia tabs affect combat?

Collection progress can grant rewards, but battle results still depend on the officers you deploy.

Where does Inoti fit?

Treat her as flex glue in mixed comps while you grow faction depth.

Which faction is best?

None universally. Pick the officers you own and the maps you fight on.
